An evening of Yoga and Music

Covered in ashes, naked and raw, holding a skull as a begging bowl, or adorned in a necklace of severed heads and a belt of arms; the images of Siva, dwelling in the cremation grounds, and of Kali, dancing on the dead body of Siva, are evocative, provocative, and perhaps a little scary. However, the images of these deities represent the very part in each one of us that holds the potency of powerful transformation.

Destruction is not the easiest or prettiest, but we can learn to navigate through times when our world falls apart and leaves us vulnerable. Invoking the fierce
energies of Siva and Kali, the cosmic cremation ground dwellers, can help guide the
way through the darkness, and honor the time of dissolution.

This is the year, this is the time to ignite the inner fire of transformation and burn
what doesn’t serve us or others, to release what stands in the way of experiencing
our fullness, to empower ourselves to dissolve structures that disempower us and
others.

Hagar Harpak will lead an empowering practice of asana, pranayama and
meditation, that will stoke the fire of dissolution, and Stella Davies will lead a
transformative Kirtan that will bring us out of the ashes and into the spaciousness of
all possibilities. We will end with a fire ceremony.

Sakti is the goddess that is all goddess. The power of the Universe. She is all that exists, and that which has brought all into existence. Sakti is the changing nature of reality and is that which brings the power of transformation to life.

Everyone is talking about the collective conscious change of 2012. Is it true? Is it real? Is it happening? It’s really all up to us! We are invited to ask ourselves what is it that we need and want to change? What do we want to bring into existence? What do we need to let go of? What can we bring from inside to help make this time truly transformative?

The word Devi in Sanskrit means Goddess, and it also means a shining light. In this magical afternoon at the beautiful home of Tatiana Urquiza, in an intimate setting, and in the company of great beings, we will explore some of the ways that the Devis of the Hindu tradition teach us to bring the light of our highest self into beautiful expression that fills the world with inspiration.

Hagar Harpak will lead a practice of asana, pranayama and meditation and Stella Davies will lead a powerful Kirtan. We will get to bring to life our greatest parts through physical expression, fullness of breath, expansion of awareness and chanting—the powerful way of the voice to bring out truth, confidence, and joy, and transmute our every part into recognition and expression of our fabulous, divine nature.

Please bring your own mat, as well as any props you wish to have such as blankets and blocks. A blanket or pillow to sit on for Kirtan would make your butt and back happy.
